Louise Parkinson
With 15 years of counselling experience, Louise (she/her) bases her practice on kindness, acceptance and an understanding that we are all in this crazy life journey together. She knows that life can be hard, and that struggles are part of being human. She firmly believes that the primary role of being human is to help each other through as best we can.
Louise's clinical framework is eclectic, drawing on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Positive Psychology. She is authentic and open, uses humour to help when appropriate, and gently challenges clients to see patterns, learn new skills and think in more helpful ways. Her goal is to help clients develop resiliency and to invite more peace and happiness into their lives.
Louise is also trained in couples work and loves to see couples move from adversarial to being deeply connected. She helps clients achieve this through compassionate listening skills, identifying unhelpful behaviour patterns and working with clients to understand and find new ways to help meet the needs of their partner.
